Health Economics for Policy and Management (HPM 715)
Description This course gives students a broad overview of the field of health economics. The focus is on applying economic reasoning to difficult policy and management decisions in healthcare and public health systems. Students learn to apply theoretical and emprical tools of economics analyze health behavior and healthcare markets. Topics covered include demand for health and healthcare, health disparities, physicians and hospitals as suppliers of healthcare, health insurance, public health economics, and applications of behavioral economics to health. For each topic we discuss empirical findings drawn from studies in both high and low-income countries.
